How stocked is your bar?

Jim's must be well stocked. I've always dreamed of having much liquor to choose from so that I can make a tasty cocktail whenever I choose.

Right now I only have some vodka, triple sec, apricot brandy, peppermint schnappes, white rum (almost out), chocolate liqueur and brandy cream liqueur (to put in hot chocolate), some coffee tequila that I've never opened because it sounds nasty, and some sake. That is it. Oh, and some really bad whiskey that we dare people to take shots of once they are already too drunk to say no.

Ridiculasly stocked. The boyfriend used to have a bunch of college parties and, as you know, booze doesn't go bad so there are all kinds of crap leftover from that (pick a flavor of "pucker" and we have it), then we have pretty much anything else you could want.

We have around 12 bottles of single malt scotch open at any given moment.

Several different vodkas...flavored and not, a few bottles of gin, light and dark rum, both good (Don Julio, Patron) and crap tequila, mixing whiskies, hennesey, crap brandy for mixing, the requisite sweet stuff (baileys, godiva, grand marnier, cointreau, chambord, jager, etc), and then some more uncommon stuff like Aquavit, Barenjager honey liquor, chartruese, limoncello, campari, lillet blanc... A variety of port and other dessert wines. All the mixers are out in the garage fridge save for the sweet and dry vermouth and bitters. Cocktail onions, cherries, olives, salt...

A 500 bottle wine storage unit.... nearly full.

...and a partridge in a pear tree.

    Come on ovah. ;)

Wow! You ARE stocked! Lucky you!

Funny story about chartruese. For those who don't know what it is, it is a pungent and powerful liqueur made from by monks out of alpine herbs. When I was still living at home, my dad would make the guys I brought over take a shot to see if they were manly enough to handle it. If they pased the test, they earned my dad's good graces. I dated a lot so my dad when through a few bottles of the stuff. ;)

My bar is really a Rum bar with other liquers and ingredient to support tropical coctails. So, I guess its really a rum collection out of sheer mass quantity. I really think of the rums by country than by light, amber or dark (althought in my mind, the brand and type defines the rum of the country ).

I swear this is not bragging. Jamaican rum (Appleton Estate V/X & Special), Guiana (Lemon Hart & Lemon Hart 151, El Dorado 15 yr), Martinique (St. James Amber & Extra Old), Venezuela (Ron Diplomatico Reserva), U.S. Virgin Islands (Cruzan Dark) - to name the better rums in the collection. Some are great sippers while other are best used as mixers for the high quality drink.

I'm still really new to the other liquers like scotch, gin, & vodka. Was pleasantly surprised with Svedka, a swedish vodka- thus a medium bottle procured. For the rest, I've been collecting lots of 50 ml bottles so I have them at home as ingredients. I want to be sure I like it before I buy a large bottle that may sit on the shelf a long time.

One thing always in need and best fresh, lemons & limes.

    Thanks for your ear.

rum rum rum rummity rum rum!

Fresh lemons & limes from CostCo or your favorite bulk store. (Made sense this summer, which was Lime Rickey season for me)

My bar isn't as stocked as I'd like:
      - about 6 kinds of vodka
      - 4 kinds of gin
      - 8 or 9 kinds of rum
      - bunch of liqeurs
      - 2 or 3 kinds of whiskey
      - 2 kinds of scotch

I dream of having the full wet bar put into our family room. Those of you who've partied at my house know how appropriate that'd be. ;)

Oh, also pineapple, orange, cranberry, guava, mango & apricot juices, selters (plain, lime, lemon, raspberry).

then there's the wine 'cellar' - plenty of varieties of NorCal Zinfandels (my fave) and plenty of champagne. NorCal stuff is cheep for us - Korbel Brut is so cheap we drink it when we run out of Sprite! (joke...sorta)
